Azfar Jafri’s new gangster film ‘Parchi’ is released on 2nd February 2018, following the release of its trailer at a star-studded event in December 2017 that featured all the stars including Hareem Farooq, Ali Rehman Khan, Usman Mukhtar, Ahmed Ali Akbar, Shafqat Khan as well as Shafqat Cheema. In this film Hareem Farooq is essaying the role of a ‘gangster’ which is unconventional, particularly for female actors. The story revolves around the parchi system, where local gangsters ask for bhatta from people engaged in some kind of business.
The trailer opens with all the five characters riding in a car where Farooq, who plays the part of Eman, is instructing the rest of the gang, as they head to rob Zodiac, essayed by Cheema. The group of friends find themselves in trouble when one receives a chit from the gangster that he owes money to. Amateur profiteer Bash finds himself in a life-threatening situation when he messes with local gang lord Zodiac. Things get worse when friends intervene and seek help from a con artist. After several failed attempts they execute a master plan, which unravels a dark secret. The film also features songs of well-known British Punjabi Bhangra band from Sahara, RDB as well as Bollywood famous singer Mika Singh.
The movie has been produced by Imran Raza Kazmi, Hareem Farooq, Arif Lakhani under the banner of IRK Films, Arif Lakhani Films and ARY Films. Shafqat Khan, who has already made his mark as a theatre play writer, has written the script.
According to Hareem Farooq, actor and co-producer of the film, she is really excited about this upcoming venture. “After receiving such an over-whelming response to the trailer, I can’t wait for the audience to see the movie. I have done a very different character in this movie and I am loving the feedback so far,” she said in a press statement.
