Satya Paul showcases his Ramayana inspired collection for Pratham UK
India’s premier designer Satya Paul showcased his Ramayana inspired sarees at an exclusive fashion show at the Pratham UK Gala on 14th October 2017 at the Landmark Hotel, London. “Our limited edition festive series is inspired from ‘Ramayana’, the saga of love, friendship and bravery, an exemplar of the victory of light over dark.” The event raised over £450,000 for the charity which is seeking to improve the quality of education and learning levels across India. Film director Gurinder Chadha, who is an ambassador for Pratham UK, took to the stage dressed in a Satya Paul saree.
The designer also showed his signature collection of banarasi sarees. “This is an attempt to capture the true essence of India that flow through the spiritual city of Banaras, celebrating its vibrancy through architecture, rustic ghats at the banks of the Ganges and the intricate motifs and textures found in famous Banarasi fabrics.”

About Pratham’s Second Chance Program
Pratham’s Second Chance program focuses on providing school drop-outs, especially women, another chance at education. Second Chance program aims to support those who could not complete their secondary education. The program focuses on completion of Grade 10, in the hope that this academic certificate would prove useful for the learners and further their opportunities for educational growth and employability. The Second Chance program uses innovative teaching methods, to provide accessible and affordable learning opportunities very close to where the students live. Some of the Second Chance programs are residential and others are non-residential.
Over the years, close to 18,000 students have benefited from Pratham’s Second Chance program. The number of students who appeared for the Board examinations till now are 11,134. Overall, the pass percentage of students is 75%.
Currently, Pratham has Second Chance centres in the states of Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Rajasthan and Telangana.
